Everyone loves beautiful surprises, so VanityTrove and Nylon have once again collaborated to bring us beauty boxes filled with our beauty favourites. The first edition was launched back in 2013 to much success, so it’s about time this came back – and they’ll be releasing a new box with each issue, so there’s something to look forward to every month!
This trove is going at the affordable price of $38 (10% off if you use my discount code!), while stocks last, and for that you get to test out a wide range of products including skincare, makeup and haircare. It’s a pretty sweet deal, if you think about it.
This one’s the July issue – yes, I’m late as usual – and an important release that sets the tone for the next 6 months… so are the contents worth the $38? Here’s what’s in mine:
- 1 x Biore Marshmallow Whip Extra Moist Face Wash (Full Size)
- 1 x Fresh Rose Face Mask (Travel Size)
- 1 x BRTC Animal Mask (Full Size)
- 1 x John Frieda Full Repair Strengthen+Restore Shampoo (Travel Size)
- 1 x John Frieda Full Repair Strengthen+Restore Conditioner (Travel Size)
- 1 x K-Palette 1 Day Lash Perm Range Volume Curl Mascara (Full Size)
- 1 x Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Hairspray (Travel Size)
- 1 x Skinfood Lettuce & Cucumber Watery Gift Set (Sample Size)
- 1 x VDL Perfecting Last Foundation (Travel Size)
- 1 x VDL Lumilayer Primer (Travel Size)
- Bonus! Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream and Hydrating Eye Gel Cream
Not a bad haul, considering that Biore’s Marshmallow Whip is about $14, and K-Palette’s mascara is 20-odd dollars.
Some of the items are assortments so not everyone will get the same thing. Here’s a closer look at the contents and their variety.
Fresh Rose Face Mask, $95 for 100ml. Available at Sephora stores.
John Frieda Full Repair Strengthen+Restore Shampoo and Conditioner, $15.90 for 250ml each. Available at selected Watsons stores.
Skinfood Premium Lettuce and Cucumber Watery Toner (180ml) and Emulsion (140ml), $32.90 each. Available at Skinfood stores.
Facial masks have never been as fun as these animal masks. We suggest getting your friends together for a mask party using these – plenty of photoworthy moments right there. Each box contains one mask, and each of the different animals represent a particular function such as firming the skin, replenishing moisture, and recharging tired skin; but whatever your skin needs, collect them all anyway just because they’re so darn cute.
BRTC Animal Masks, $3.90 each. Available at Sasa stores.
Those big, googly and incredibly long-lashed eyes you always see Japanese girls sporting? It’s all down to clever use of eye makeup. One of the following six products is included in the box: Volume Curl or Long Curl Mascara, K-Palette’s 1 Day Tattoo Real Lasting 2 Way Eyebrow Liner, Lasting Eyebrow Mascara, Real Lasting Tears Tank shimmer eyeliner pen, or Magic Eyeglue Liquid.
K-Palette products, $19.90 to $25.90. Available at selected beauty stores.
I don’t know about you but I do think this is value for money with popular brand names and full sized items. To be honest, I had a trove in my cart already but haven’t paid yet cos one has to call up the VanityTrove office if Amex is used to pay and I carted it at 4am…
So obviously I accepted this ad since I already wanted them and was willing to pay already. (And now I don’t have to!)
